You Want to Start a Fundraiser, Now What?
So, you’ve decided to start a fundraiser to support something you are passionate about. Perhaps a loved one is hurting, your family is pursuing adoption or there’s a humanitarian cause that hits close to home. At the Giving Village, we’ve seen all types of fundraisers and get excited about each and every one.
We also know there are a few tricks to the trade of getting others excited to support something or someone you love. Here are a few tips when starting your free online fundraiser.
Write Your Story
In the writeup of your fundraiser, answer these cues:
Who is the fundraiser for?
Give a little bit of the backstory and why a fundraiser is needed.
What is the money going towards?
If you’re going to give your money to someone, you most likely will want to know how it will be used. Explain how this money will help and why it is important to the cause.
Why are you thankful for the support?
Always end with an ask. For example, "please consider purchasing a bracelet or donating today." and end with a big thank you!
Select Good Photos
Don’t underestimate the power of a good photo. Make sure to include pictures that are clear and relate to the fundraiser! You can have up to 6 photos on your LoveWell fundraising page.
Share Your Story
Your fundraiser is now live, so it is now your time to shine! Be sure to share the website link with your friends and family. This can be done through social media, email, or text. Be sure to check back in a couple of weeks to update them on your progress and see if there are any questions.
